CHANEL OPENS UP AT BATTERSEA POWER STATION
Posted on by Cameron Tewson
CHANEL? South of the river, who’d have thought? It only took 40 years, extensive restorations and a few billion pounds to complete, but Battersea Power Station is finally open for business – and it’s the most exciting shopping destination we’ve been given in years.
One of many moved into the hot new space is CHANEL, just one of many top retailers neighbouring with Aesop, Jo Malone London, and Le Labo. To pay homage to the legendary London landmark, the interior features of the CHANEL boutique have been customised to showcase the heritage of the building. The original columns are visible and integrated into the design of the boutique, and a custom art deco style luminaire has been created to celebrate the style of the building and illuminate the central makeup table.
There is no mistaking the fact that the Battersea Power Station is a mall, but the design feels more like a museum, maintaining the Grade II-listed building’s historical elements and character with modern sensibility. Turbine Hall A pays homage to the original 1930s construction with an art-deco style, while Turbine Hall B taps Brutalist design inspiration from the 1950s.
Flanked by fragrance and skincare on either side, the station allows for a fluid CHANEL discovery to meet the clients every need, including the CHANEL Virtual Try On screens. The screens offer clients the opportunity to create virtual full looks from lips, eyes and nails. For a private one-to-one makeup experience, there are also two dedicated makeup stations to the right of the boutique.
There is a dedicated Exclusives Corner, with sofa seating for a more intimate consultation experience to highlight the boutique exclusivities, elevated ranges, and small leather goods.
The boutique also includes an eyewear wall with 45 offerings to try on the latest CHANEL styles.
