LONDON FASHION WEEK: GLOBE-TROTTER AUTUMN WINTER 2017

Posted on by Cameron Tewson

Globe-Trotter’s 120th anniversary this year has provided the source of inspiration for the autumn/winter 2017 collection.

Looking back at the brand’s original London factory premises at 150 St John Street, Globe-Trotter designer, Charlotte Seddon, has reinterpreted details from the building’s Victorian brick façade as embroidery, appliqué and linings in the new collection.

Seddon said ‘Researching Globe-Trotter’s history at the St John Street premises has been a great experience. As well as being a beautiful and inspiring building in itself, the process has also brought to light a wealth of fascinating stories, which I hope live on in the new collection, designed for today’s adventurers’.

Warm, autumnal tones of brinjal and mustard, inspired by pieces from the Globe-Trotter archives provide a rich backdrop to the seasonal design details which adorn the collection of suitcases, bags and small leather accessories.

The London Fashion Week presentation also featured a timeline of archival Globe-Trotter cases as an illustration of the brand’s evolution since 1897 along with an original embossing machine from the Globe-Trotter factory used to stamp the iconic ‘North Star’ logo onto each suitcase.

Handcrafted in Hertfordshire, England, the autumn/winter 2017 collection will be available in-store and online from late August 2017.
