CLOSE UP: ELIZABETH AND JAMES AUTUMN WINTER 2015
Posted on by Cameron Tewson
Last week I headed to Claridges to meet with Amanda, Director of Communications for Elizabeth and James and to explore the latest offering for Autumn Winter 2015 by design twin duo, Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen. The line drawn inspiration from the love of the seventies and the collection told a story that held a strong juxtaposition between Menswear and the 70’s bohemian influences. They both held a strong presence with feminine dressing, curating rich textures and relaxed silhouettes with subtle seducktiveness. The collection was sophisticated with plenty of seperates and the casual appeal highlighted alongside cozy turtlenecks and maxi cardigans. The outerwear dominates as the season standout featuring an electric mix of textures including Mongolian lamb, wool blend boucle and my favourite, the python embossed leather boyfriend jackets. Overall the AW15 pallete consists of grey, black, charchol, navy, vanilla, plum & olive. For those of you who don’t know, The Elizabeth and James label brings together two dynamic personalities into exquisite balance. They perfectly complement one another in a beautiful contradiction. Elizabeth’s uptown sophistication and feminine detail is paired with James’ laidback, downtown edge and masculine tailoring. Individually, each would be incomplete. Together, they are striking in perfection.
