ELIZABETH AND JAMES SUMMER 2017
Posted on by Cameron Tewson
The Elizabeth and James Spring 2017 collection is inspired by looking back to early nineties’ styling – exploring modern femininity with sportswear details. The collection holds a sense of ease and effortless dressing that continues as a signature for the brand, delivering an essential wardrobe for the modern woman who craves individuality and comfort.
The collection consists of tonal dressing in shades of eggshell, ivory, black and coral highlight a combination of textures: silk habotai, satin and chiffon contrasted with luxe nylon, yarn-dyed denim and crisp knits. Feminine elements appear throughout the collection, experimenting with ruffles, ruching and smocked details to add softness and a sensual appeal. Bold menswear influences come through in loose and easy suiting options while scarf print silk separates and baja stripe woven combos exude an artisanal feel. Belted jackets with vented sleeves hint at kimono shapes and are paired with a wide-leg pant – the dominant silhouette for the season is born.
Accessories complement an effortless yet directional approach to dressing for spring. Pops of silver are seen in aluminum crinkled leather handbags, sculptural disc earrings, and a silver acetate pair of sunglasses inspired by Japanese paper. Tassel details on handbags and unique wood statement earrings nod to artisanal touches while metal frame sunglasses and silk braided bracelets are reminiscent of nineties-style finishing touches.
